Abstrakt: The subject matter of the sutdy is the question regarding the establishment of the royal town of Uherský Brod and the paths from Moravia to Hungary which the town was supposed to guard. The author questions the assumption which has been applied so far and which exclusively identified the ford across the river Olšava with the site where the town was subsequently established since he considers this location less suitable for a river ford. he concludes that the site where the river Olšava was crossed and which was called Brod (Ford) was situated somewhere else and he documents his hypothesis by field research.
