Tento způsob hospodaření má původ v Alpách a do Krkonoš byl přenesen dřevaři. Realizován tu byl v poněkud pozměněné formě. K postupnému omezování budního hospodářství přispěly snahy o ochranu lesa a rozvoj turistického ruchu na konci 19. století; k definitivnímu zániku pak došlo po odsunu německého obyvatelstva po 2. světové válce. Tento nedávný a relativně poměrně rychle zaniklý způsob života se výrazně odrazil ve vzhledu krkonošské krajiny. Na lokalitě Čertova louka byla provedena terénní nedestruktivní prospekce a dokumentace reliktů čtyř zaniklých bud, jejich hospodářského zázemí a komunikací. K doplnění obrazu byly využity výsledky archeologického výzkumu jedné z nich. Analyzovány byly také písemné, kartografické a ikonografické prameny. Výsledkem je kromě zjištění charakteru zástavby a využívání prostoru na lokalitě také detailní pohled do vybavení letní krkonošské boudy ; In the 17th–19th centuries, a transhumant economy – that is, the summer use of the highest parts of the mountains for the gathering of hay and pasturing of livestock, from whose milk butter and cheese were made in mountain cabins – developed in the Krkonoše Mountains. This system of agriculture has its origin in the Alps, and was brought to the Krkonoše Mountains by woodcutters; it was applied here in a somewhat altered form. Attempts to protect forestry and the development of tourism at the end of the 19th century contributed to the restriction of the transhumant economy; its definitive end, however, came with the expulsion of the German population after the Second World War. This recent and relatively rapid decline of a way of life has been markedly reflected in the appearance of the landscape of the Krkonoše Mountains. At Čertova louka non-destructive field survey was undertaken with the documentation of the relicts of four abandoned structures, their outbuildings and lines of communication. The picture was further filled out by the results of the archaeological excavation of one of these. Written, cartographic and iconographic sources were also analyses.
