Abstrakt: Floods in the Czech Lands often resulted in the decline of settlements or their moving away to more favorable locations outside the reach flood waters. Since rivers frequently marked borders of various territorial and administrative units, disputes over a territory often arose in connection with the relocation of a riverbed during floods. Flood damage is increased by people firstly by their settling down in alluvial plains and secondly by reckless modifications of riverbeds and their surroundings, the construction of improper buildings in flood plains and others. |
